What to do right now
Knocked-out adult tooth
Hold it by the crown (not the root), keep it in milk or your cheek, and call us straight away.
Toothache
Rinse with warm water and call us. Avoid placing painkillers directly on the gum.
Broken tooth
Save any pieces, rinse gently, and call us so we can advise and find you a time.
After hours
When we’re closed, call NHS 111 for urgent dental advice and treatment. For facial swelling that affects your breathing, swallowing or vision, or a serious injury, call 999 or go to A&E.
What it costs
NHS patients pay the NHS urgent treatment charge, currently £27.40 (from 1 April 2025), and children under 18 pay nothing. Private emergency appointments are listed on our fees page. Either way, we’ll tell you the cost before we start.
